Ultimate Experiences

So the most Ultimate thing that has happened to me since I last wrote is that I started dating the most wonderful person alive! His name is Joey Larsen. He is in my ward and also in my FHE group. We started dating November 19th after going on two dates. The first of which I asked him. That's a funny story though... Annie had told me to find a date and I knew that Joey was fun and nice (so he wouldn't say no) and I was laying on the floor whining and moaning about how I should ask him, whether I should call him or go over to his apartment and just as I was about to call him there was a knock on the door and guess who... yep it was Joey. He came in and made small talk for a bit and then before I could give myself anytime to hesitate I asked him. He said yes and I told him that it was Friday at 7:30. However, I found out later that the reason he came over was so that he could ask me to a concert that same night and at the same time. SO pretty much it was meant to be. He is awesome, so awesome that he does the dishes for me, picks me up from school and listens to and remembers the things I say. We have been dating for a little over a month and it has been the best month of my life so far and I expect many wonderful months in the future.

Joey and I after the BYU vs. Utah game in which BYU Sucked! but at least I had someone to comfort me ;)

Oh and did I mention that he makes me laugh... all the time!

And he puts up with my craziness!

Ok so the other Ultimate thing that happened was that my Ultimate team won the Intramural Championships for our division. I was the captain so this was really exciting! It started out a little rocky cause nobody really cared but then everyone started doing their best and we totally ROCKED. We owned every other team in the tournament beating them by at least a 6 point differential. Even though I didn't get to play in the last 3 games because I broke my ankle I did score a point and get a block in the first two tournament games.

Spring Semester

So Spring Semester is over already and it is truly depressing cause I had the best ward! Here's some of the stuff I did!

For FHE we went Ice Blocking at Rock Canyon Park!

video
This is a video of me winning an Ice Blocking race!

From Left to Right: Dallas, Me, Alena, Ryan

Ok coolest Ice Blocking formation EVER!! I was skiing on their backs!! And...

We actually made it to the BOTTOM!!

Pyramid formation! Not so successful but really exciting!

Dallas and I going back to back.

I was having so much fun before I flipped over on my neck!! No, really, it was terrifying! People said that I was sliding down on my neck for like 15 feet and Dallas was afraid that I was dead!

This is me after I almost died. My whole FHE family ran down the hill to help me. I'm fine just a little dazed!

Our family is so cute!

Enrichment!

Ward Activity! We played Water Softball.
I had much more successful hits than this one.

I didn't want to get wet so I just ran across the slip n' Slide. Brother Heaston in my bishopric didn't like this and made me do it the right way and the below picture is what happened...

...I ran into Ryan my FHE dad. haha

Recent Updates

I haven't written in forever. So much has happened! Umm I think the last time I wrote I was excited about a date that I was going to go on. Well, I still went but the other people bailed so it was just me and Adam. It was slightly awkward... but hey, a date's a date. I also got through all of my finals for Winter Semester successfully. I got all A's except for an A- in history of Psych. However, to get an A you had to get a 95 or above which is practically impossible since the whole class grade consists of 3 tests and one essay.

Rachel and I also went to the most amazing concert ever! Paramore and Jimmy Eat World!

Practicing our headbanging skillz!!
Our new Paramore T-shirts! Katie (the girl who drove us, Thanks), Rachel, and Me
On the last night before I went home Amy and I decided to have a Martinelli's party... No further explanation is needed!
When I went home I saw Cody, for the last time for at least two years. We did baptisms twice in one week and got CAPTAIN CRUNCH MILKSHAKES which actually weren't nearly as disgusting as you would think.
Danielle, Rachel, Me, Cody, Annie, and Bobby at Cody's "farewell".
When I went home Annie took me to IKEA!! Coolest store ever!!!
Don't I look so cute in my egg chair??
OK this one is just kinda scary....
Me with my cute brothers... What is really sad is that Robert(16) and Joshua (14) are both A LOT taller than me and Isaac who is only 10 is almost as tall as me!!! I was even standing on higher ground than them!!
Me, Isaac, Josh, Robert (who doesn't know how to make his own funny face... haha)

Well, I am now an Resident Assistant in Helaman halls at BYU. It is so much fun!! I love all of the girls on my floor, they are so much fun and I've made so many new friends. I've become really close with a lot of the girls, especially Alena who lives just a couple of doors over. Me and her talk for probably at least an hour everyday and she loves Ultimate Frisbee almost as much as I do! Hmmm as an RA I've only had one traumatic event so far. One of the girls on my floor threw up, it was kinda gross, but luckily I'm not very queasy in that sort of situation. Unfortunately, I hadn't yet been trained on what to do for that so it was a little bit more stressful than it should have been. All the girls were so helpful though and we were able to get it taken care of. Being an RA can be really hard though. I just want to be everyone's friend so it's really hard when I have to be authoritative and tell them not to do something.
Alena and I after a dance!!

Spring term is so much fun. There is less than 80 people in our ward and I think I know almost everyone. Everyone is so open and fun. This is us hiking the Y!!

Alena and I FINALLY made it!!! YAY!!

Me and one of the girls on my floor Natalia, she's from Ecuador!!
Me with Dallas one of the guy RAs... he makes me look bad in this picture... I was so red in the face!!

Our awesome FHE group won the pyramid building contest... Shannon (on the top) sacrificed her ankle for the win!

Life: The good and the bad

Ok so I played my racquetball game yesterday. I lost. But it was such an intense game. I still came in 2nd place and as Amy pointed out "2nd the best, 1st the worst" haha. The first game Crystal (my opponent) won 15-13, the second game I won 15-9, and the last game she won 11-4. It was a lot of fun. Besides, I let her win because she had a whole fan club and I wouldn't want to make her look bad in front of them. At least that's what I will use as my excuse. haha.

But the thing that made my day yesterday was that I got asked on a date!! This is only the second date I have been asked on in college (the first was homecoming) so I am really excited. I got asked by a kid in my ward named Adam Hoynacki. He is really cool and funny so it should be a good time. We are going in a group with my hometeachers too. I'm not sure what we are doing but I will definitely make a post about it. The fact that I got asked on a date made me feel better about life. All my hopes and dreams had been dashed about BYU when after being here for 3 semesters I had only been asked to Homecoming, which was kind of an awkward situation anyway. I mean as some as you know I had a boyfriend for a while but I wanted to just be asked on a just casual friendly date for once rather than having to make a long term commitment, especially to a premie (pre-missionary). It's not like I'm anti-social with guys either. If you don't count the time I spend with Amy I spend way more time with guys than I do with girls. So, finally my wish to be asked on an official date, in a non-awkward way, with no strings attached has come true. Here's a picture of him, it's really pixelated but it's to most recent. Hopefully there will be pictures on the date too.
However, if Amy finds me dead one morning, it is because Adam's ex-girlfriend has murdered me in my sleep. I chatted with her at a ward activity a couple of weeks ago and she was VERY upset that Adam was hanging out with another girl (not me). She says that Adam is still in love with her and that the only reason he broke up with her is that he has to go on a mission so now she is treated like crap. She was very irrate. So here's hoping that she doesn't find out about this date or that she will be able to control her anger enough to abstain from inflicting any physical injury upon me.
So in other news, I am going insane trying to figure out what I am doing with school. After Spring and Summer semesters I will be junior, so I kinda need to decide for sure what I am doing. I was thinking that I for sure wanted to major in psychology and I still think that that is what I want to do. The problem is that I want to major in something that I can have a lifetime career from, if need be, and in Psych that definitely requires further schooling. I am fine with continuing my education after my bachelor's but I am just worried about how feasible that is with raising a family when that happens.
GUESS WHAT??? I come home in EIGHT DAYS!! Yay!! I'm so excited to see my family and my friends. I've missed being home sooo much!
anywho have an awesome weekend everyone!!

Advice for a Talent Deprived Soul

Do you ever have those times where you have so many feeling bottled up inside of you that you just don't know what to do with them? Well I'm going through one of those times and I have the strong desire to write a song. Sometimes I have profound thoughts but I don't know how to make them a lyrically flowing piece of musical goodness. Any tips?? Write me a comment

Other than that, my day was rather uneventful. I did stats, ate dinner, went to three mission call openings, played piano and waited in vain for the return of the cure for my pain.

Oh, but the most hillarious sign was posted in my lobby:

I would just like to give a big hug to whoever posted that because it is so awkward to see that and it does happen all the time. It is especially awkward when they are in your ward and you have to try and pretend not to notice!!

Wish me luck on my racquetball game tomorrow and have a great night!

Highlights of My Recent Life

So, not much is new in my life right now. I went to conference Sunday for the morning session and that was really fun. The choir was probably the coolest part, it sounds so much different in person. It's so powerful it's almost like listening to a choir of angels. Unfortunately I didn't bring a camera because I knew I would be too far away to get any really good pictures but I did get some pictures of Amy (my room mate) and I on a friend's camera that I might be able to get a hold of.

I am also playing racquetball intramurals right now. I have made it to the TOP TWO as of today! The game I played today was extremely intense. It included a like 5 minute long rally and me coming back from behind to win. She was winning 12-6 and I came back to win 15-12. So, I play again on Thursday against the only person that has beaten me, but we were a good match and I just barely lost last time so it should be a good game! Here is a picture of me right after I won my game with my weapon of choice, Pikachu (yes like the pokemon). Excuse my sweatyness. My other sport endeavours include working out for 2 hours everyday, playing Ultimate Frisbee every Thursday, and homework (it takes a lot out of you)!

BYU is pretty awesome. I have been here since last summer and I love it! Summer was especially fun! Unfortunately, I have not fulfilled the main purpose of attending BYU, I'm not married yet! haha! Don't worry, I've got time and at least one RM who admires me for my shaving skills (I'll explain in a bit). Right now my main focus is getting through the rest of the semester. I come home in less than two weeks! So far I have gotten all A's on all my tests and I hope to keep that up through finals. After I come home for a WHOLE week, I'm coming back up for Spring and Summer semester to be a Resident Assistant. The best part about this is that I will be going to school completely free because I also have a full tuition scholarship and being an RA covers my room and board! After that I will be going Fall and Winter again because my best friend is transferring up and we are rooming together in a freaking awesome house! At the end of Winter 2009 I will have been at BYU for SEVEN straight semesters!!!

I guess I will end with my shaving skills story. I was playing ultimate and talking to this RM named Sheldon who I have known since Summer semester and out of nowhere he says, "You did a really great job shaving." Well I was speechless. I thought he might be being sarcastic. Because I had a big scab across the top of my knee from hitting myself on my dressor drawers and my legs are horribly bruised from Ice skating and various other "extreme" sports. When I explained this he was like, "No I'm serious, that's really hard to do". (Why he knows that I don't want to know). So needless to say I felt extremely weirded out because I have every guy on my team looking at my legs and I can't figure out why Sheldon was looking that closely at my legs in the first place. However, I am not the only one that has been weirded out by this incident. I was successful is making Leslie, Amy's twin, completely paranoid that guys notice if girls are clean-shaven or not! haha!

I'm adding some pictures of Amy and I for those of you who don't know her and a picture after an intense game of Ultimate (during Summer).

Summer Ultimate!

Cute picture of Amy and I

Amy got new biking shorts that made her look like she had a baboon butt... I couldn't resist!
